Hi,  I am Pat Buckley

I am an oil and pastel artist living and working in Florence, Kentucky.  I have been drawing and painting since I was a child growing up in a small town in western Pensilvania.  There I learned to paint from a lady named Isabelle Hepler.  She was a self taught artist who gave lessons to local children in her home.  After graduating High School I studied art and architecture at Pennsylvania State University.

About 10 years ago, while visiting Charleston, South Carolina, I met a pastel artist named Nina Vucello. She was selling prints of her paintings to tourists at a street market.  She was kind enough to introduce me to the materials she used to create her beautiful pastel paintings.  Now I enjoy painting in oil and pastel and tend to use whichever medium fits either the subject matter or mood I wish to achieve.  Since my encounter with Nina I have taken many classes and workshops in pastel.  I have specifically enjoyed those taught by Linda Chambers at the Marco Island Center for the Arts in Marco Island, Florida and by Ken Buck at the Baker Hunt Institute in Covington, Kentucky.

Most of my paintings are done in my studio from photos of my travels, local scenery and wildlife.  I love painting children and animals.  I enjoy participating in local art shows in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky while meeting the public and other craftsmen and artists.

I hope you will enjoy browsing my website.
